Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre has installed the Urodynamics system from LABORIE Canada, a leading manufacturer in the field. The hospital now offers a complete set of Urodynamic studies at the new setup. Urodynamic studies provide extremely valuable diagnostic data for any of the bladder dysfunctions.

Typical Urodynamic testing consists of below:

  • Uroflowmetry
  • Filling Cystometry
  • Pressure-flow study
  • Urethral pressure profiles (UPP)
  • Valsalva Leak Point Pressure (VLPP)
  • Electromyography (EMG)

The department of Nuclear Medicine comprises of 3 sections namely Gamma Scans, PET scans and isotopes treatments. The department comprise of 2 well known consultants in the field of Nuclear Medicine along with qualified technicians and nurses.

FOR APPOINTMENTS, contact our Nuclear Medicine department on +91-22-26568092

The Gamma Section performs 40 different procedures pertaining to all disciplines of Medicine. The PET scan section performs 4 different types of procedures pertaining to Oncology, Neurology, Cardiology & Infectious diseases.

We have introduced Gallium PET Scan for Nets and Prostate Cancer. With newer developments in Oncology, there is a new focus on targeted imaging. Targeted imaging are aimed at various specific receptors therefore making them more specific and sensitive. Lilavati Hospital has installed this setup. Addition of this technology has given us an edge  in the management of neuroendocrine tumours (NETs ) and prostate cancer. By doing so we have added one more feather in our cap and once again proven our strive to provide the best services to our patients with the highest regards to quality, patient safety and patient satisfaction.

The utility of 68Ga-DOTA peptide PET/CT is well-established and can influence many aspects of NET management including staging patients with already diagnosed NETs, detection of sites of recurrence in patients with treated NETs (restaging), diagnosis of patients suspected of having NET based on clinical features or biochemical evidence of hormone excess, selection of potential candidates for cold somatostatin analogue or peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) and monitoring response to therapy in such patients.

Introduction of 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT imaging has revolutionized prostate cancer imaging. At Lilavati Hospital, with the availability of PSMA-PET ,imaging patients now have a new option of detecting prostate cancer cells anywhere in the body more accurately than the traditional methods. The PSMA-PET imaging test works by marking an antigen site which is present on the surface of prostate cancer cell and it is referred as PSMA, with a radioactive peptide, Gallium-68. This process allows the cancer cells to be detected wherever they are located, including outside of the pelvic region and allows doctors to make more accurate treatment decisions. Since the imaging technique involves the whole body it allows complete staging of the local tumor and possible lymph nodes, visceral or bone metastases with high accuracy in single examination. Moreover, it has become an excellent staging tool for recurrent prostate cancer even at early stage and low PSA levels. Ga68-PSMA has high sensitivity for diagnosis, staging, restaging, evaluation of therapy response and prognostication in prostate cancer.

Apart from the above-mentioned clinical applications this new technique is also used for infection imaging in selective clinical conditions like malignant otitis media, joint infection, post surgical infections etc.

The Isotopes Treatment section performs three different treatment procedures involving thyroid, tumor & bone Metastasis.

The department consists of four Nuclear Medicine specialist, two consultants and two senior registrars and two technologists well qualified.
