The Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust (LKMMT) is a public charitable trust formed in 1978 by the Late Shri Kirtilal Mehta. The trust not only manages Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre but also undertakes numerous charitable initiatives across India.

Born in the small town of Palanpur on February 7, 1907, Shri Mehta joined his family business in Rangoon, Burma. Losing his father at a young age shaped him into a responsible and independent individual. With great ambition, Shri Mehta established his own business in Mumbai. A visionary, he identified the potential in exporting diamonds to Europe and pioneered the Indian community's presence in Antwerp, Belgium.

Shri Mehta's contributions to the business world earned him numerous accolades, including:

  • The prestigious "Officer of the Order" honor by His Majesty The King of Belgium in 1991, the first-ever Indian to receive this recognition.
  • Leading Exporter Award by the Government of India.
  • Outstanding Exporter Award from the President of Israel.
  • Honors by the King of Palanpur.

A compassionate woman, Smt. Mehta was a key driving force in establishing Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre. Deeply respected and loved, she dedicated her life to the betterment of the underprivileged.

Shri Kishor Mehta conceptualized the Lilavati Hospital project and played a pivotal role in its design and implementation under the guidance of his father, Shri Kirtilal Mehta. Shri Kishor Mehta brought his father's dream to life, building Lilavati Hospital as a symbol of resilience and determination. Under his visionary leadership, the hospital soared to new heights, establishing itself as one of India's and the world's premier healthcare institutions. Shri Mehta also laid plans for further expansion of the hospital, which are being implemented today.

Smt. Charu Kishor Mehta

Smt. Charu Mehta has been the heart and soul of Lilavati Hospital, continuing the vision she shared with her late husband, Shri Kishor Mehta, who passed away recently. Together, they laid the foundation of Lilavati Hospital in 1997 with the dream of providing compassionate, world-class healthcare to all.

Since her husband's passing, Smt. Mehta has steadfastly upheld their shared mission, ensuring that their vision thrives.

Her role extends beyond administration—she has instilled a culture of empathy and selfless service within the institution. Under her leadership, Lilavati Hospital has become a beacon of hope for countless individuals, embodying her and Shri Kishor Mehta's belief that healthcare should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their circumstances.

Through her unwavering dedication, Smt. Charu Mehta has ensured that Lilavati Hospital remains not just a medical institution but a legacy of care and compassion, continually elevating the standard of healthcare in India.
