Dr. Vibha Varma, is an accomplished Liver transplant surgeon with over 2 decades of experience in both living donor and deceased donor liver transplant. She has been part of the pioneer team performing liver transplant in our country. She has an experience about 3000+ liver transplant surgeries. She has been trained both in India and abroad (UK, Korea) in open and minimal invasive (Laparoscopic and Robotic) donor surgery. She has expertise to perform both adult and pediatric liver transplantation. Her expertise also includes management of chronic liver disease, acute liver failure, liver cancer, and acute on chronic liver failure patients. She performs complex liver resections for hepatocellular cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, pancreatic and biliary tract surgeries for both benign and malignant pathologies. She has published extensively and believes in sharing her knowledge and expertise while she keeps herself abreast with the latest technologies.

Dr. Pooja Baliga

Liver Transplant and Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Anaesthesiologist

Dr. Pooja Baliga has over 8 years of experience in Anaesthesiology in multiple specialities like Oncoanaesthesia, Neuroanaesthesia and Cardiac Anaesthesia. She found her passion in Liver Transplantation and has been involved in Perioperative Care of over 900 Liver Transplants and independently administered Anaesthesia care to over 200 Liver Transplants, over 100 Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgeries and over 1000 Gastrointestinal Surgeries. She has also been the lead Anaesthesiologist for Interventional Radiology in a high-volume transplant centre. She enjoys teaching and has actively designed the academic curriculum for Liver Transplant Anaesthesia Fellowship Program and has trained sedation nurses.
She aims to improvise current practices and participate in innovations that would improve short-term and long-term outcomes for both liver transplant donors and recipients and is keen on promoting pledging of organs and hopes for the day to come soon where in deceased donor pool will significantly expand in our country.
