Professional Profile

Dr. Mona Mehta is a Senior Consultant Radiologist and a Senior Faculty member of the Postgraduate program in the department of Radiology and imaging at the Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai. 

She is a passionate academician and a certified postgraduate teacher / Guide with the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) under the National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi. With her clinical expertise and academic contributions Dr Mona Mehta has successfully mentored  numerous postgraduate resident doctors for over 15 years. She is widely recognized for her diagnostic precision, commitment to patient care, and dedication to training future generations of radiologists.

She has publications in national and International journals. She has been an invited faculty at conferences of Ultrasound and Breast imaging and interventions.

Clinical Experience

Dr. Mona Mehta has been associated with Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre as an expert in diagnostic and interventional radiology for 19 years and brings with her a vast experience spanning more than 33 years. She maintains a high volume of clinical practice managing approximately 6,000 cases annually and has undergone specialized overseas training, including a one year fellowship at the Department of Radiology, University of Würzburg, Germany.

  • Digital mammography with 3D tomosynthesis including ultrasound and stereotactic guided breast-related interventional procedures (biopsy, FNAC, aspiration, hookwire localization, Ultraclip placement)
  • Whole body ultrasound with 3D/4D, elastography and color Doppler with special interest in obstetrics & gynaecology, fetal imaging (first and mid trimester anomaly scans), neck (thyroid/parathyroid), paediatric & neonatal and musculoskeletal imaging
  • Ultrasound-guided adult and paediatric interventional procedures
    - Transrectal prostate and transvaginal pelvic mass biopsies
    - Ultrasound-guided FNAC, core biopsy, ascitic & pleural tapping, pigtail insertion, radiofrequency ablation, intussusception reduction, amniocentesis, sonosalpingography, etc.
  • Ultrasound-guided contrast imaging (CEUS)
Awards & Recognition

Dr Mehta is the recipient of the prestigious DAAD scholarship awarded by the German government and has been awarded a Gold Medal in DMRD.
