Dr. Ram Chaddha is a Consultant Spine Surgeon with over 30 years of experience. He completed his orthopaedic training at the L.T.M. Medical College & General Hospital, Sion, Mumbai, in 1989, where he later served as Associate Professor of Orthopaedics, nurturing his passion for teaching. He furthered his expertise through advanced fellowships in Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery in France, Germany, Switzerland, and the USA.
Dr. Chaddha has a distinguished career in spine surgery, having served at various leading hospitals across India. His commitment to education led him to become Professor and Head of the Department of Orthopaedics at K.J. Somaiya Medical College & Hospital, Sion, Mumbai.
He is a pioneer of ‘MICOSS – Minimally Invasive Cosmetic Spine Surgery’ in India, developing thoracoscopic and laparoscopic techniques for spine deformities, infections, and tumors around the turn of the century. He honed these skills at prestigious centers in the USA, Europe, and Asia. He has successfully performed complex spine instrumentations for kyphoscoliosis and failed back surgeries, receiving referrals from across India and internationally.
Dr. Chaddha has made significant contributions at local, regional, national, and international levels, including scientific papers, editorials, podium presentations, and orations. He is a sought-after keynote speaker and guest orator at scientific conventions, sharing both his academic expertise and his inspiring personal insights.
He has served as Past President of the ‘Association of Spine Surgeons of India’, ‘Bombay Spine Society’, and the ‘Bombay Orthopedic Society’. He is a Council Member for India at the ‘Asia-Pacific Orthopaedic Association’ and Chief National Delegate from India for the ‘Asia-Pacific Spine Society’.
He has contributed to the ‘Indian Orthopaedic Association’ through the Foreign Fellowship Committee and as Chairman of the Centre-State Relationship Committee. He serves on the Editorial Board of the “Asian Spine Journal”, the “Indian Spine Journal”, and the “Malaysian Orthopedic Journal”. He was the Organizing Secretary of “IOACON – 2020 – Mumbai,” the annual conference of the Indian Orthopedic Association.
Driven by a pursuit of excellence in the challenging field of spine surgery, Dr. Chaddha utilizes world-class technologies such as neuro-navigation, intra-operative neuromonitoring, and minimally invasive spine techniques, including laser and microsurgery, to provide the best possible spine care in Mumbai, India.
He recently pioneered “Robotic Spine Surgery” in Navi Mumbai, introducing the first “Mazor Renaissance Spine Robot” in Western India.
Dr. Chaddha is a strong advocate for “Safe Spine Surgery” and is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and achieving clinical excellence.
