Profile

Dr. Wagle has been associated with Lilavati Hospital for 17 years and has extensive experience in managing obstructive jaundice, both benign and malignant, over the past 27 years.
He has performed over 1,500 major hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeries, including:

  • Liver resections for malignant and benign diseases
  • Hepatico-jejunostomies for bile duct strictures, including those caused by post-cholecystectomy injuries
  • Pancreatic debridement for necrosis
  • Whipple's Pancreaticoduodenectomies for periampullary and pancreatic cancers, including vascular resections and reconstructions
  • Surgeries for chronic pancreatitis, including head coring (Freys) and Beger's procedures for inflammatory pancreatic head masses

Dr. Wagle graduated from T.N. Medical College & B.Y.L. Nair Hospital, Mumbai, and completed his Masters there in 1993.
He worked as a Senior Registrar in GI Surgery at the same institute for a year, then as a Registrar in Oncosurgery at Tata Memorial Hospital in 1995.
In 1996, he joined Nair Hospital as a Lecturer, and in 1998, he became a Clinical Fellow at the University of Hamburg, Germany, working in the Pancreatic and Liver Units, including transplant surgery.
He received a Fellowship in Living Donor Liver Transplantation from Asan Medical Centre, Seoul, Korea, in 2006. He was also a Visiting Fellow at the Liver Unit, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, UK, in 2006.
He was the HOD of Liver Surgery at Nanavati Hospital from 2018–2019.
Dr. Wagle has been an invited international faculty at various congresses in Seoul, Shanghai, and Melbourne. He has also demonstrated liver and pancreatic surgeries in workshops.
