Profile

Dr. Nagraj Shetty specializes in the treatment of knee, shoulder, elbow, ankle, and hip joint disorders. He is renowned for his expertise in advanced arthroscopic and reconstructive surgeries, including shoulder replacements, knee ligament and multiligament reconstructions, articular cartilage reconstruction, meniscus repair, and high tibial osteotomy. Dr. Shetty is one of the few surgeons in the country who performs arthroscopic surgeries on the elbow, ankle, and hip joints.

After completing his Masters in Orthopaedics, Dr. Shetty honed his skills in his chosen subspecialty of Arthroscopy and Shoulder Surgery in Mumbai. His commitment to excellence led him to complete a Fellowship in Arthroscopy, Sports Orthopaedics, and Shoulder Surgery at renowned centres in South Korea in 2009. He further advanced his expertise with a fellowship in Advanced Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the world-renowned Cattolica Shoulder Unit in Italy.

Additionally, Dr. Shetty has received training in Shoulder and Ankle Surgery from prestigious centres in the Netherlands, Germany, and France, and in Knee Surgery from Barcelona, Spain. He has treated high-level athletes, including football players, and has applied his extensive experience as an Assistant Professor at DMIMS (Wardha), where he worked as a specialist arthroscopic surgeon.

Since 2012, Dr. Shetty has been exclusively practising Arthroscopy and Shoulder Surgery in Mumbai, performing over 600 arthroscopic and open reconstructive procedures annually. He is a popular surgeon, trusted by both senior and junior colleagues, and has treated numerous top-level sportsmen, actors, and international patients. His patient base extends beyond Mumbai to cities like Surat, Nashik, and Guwahati.

On the academic front, Dr. Shetty has published several articles in renowned indexed Arthroscopy and Shoulder Surgery journals and contributed to book chapters. He has been a regular faculty member at major National and International Arthroscopy and Shoulder Surgery conferences since 2013, performing live surgeries both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Shetty is currently the Head of the Department at BDBA Municipal General Hospital, Kandivli, Mumbai, where he also serves as a teacher for the Diploma in Orthopaedics (CPS Mumbai). He is the Fellowship Director for two fellowship positions every six months at Arthrosports, Mumbai.

Dr. Nagraj Shetty won the Best Poster Award for his presentation titled “An Unusual Presentation of Gouty Tophi in Knee” at the Western India Regional Orthopaedic Conference (WIROC) in 2009.
