Profile

Dr. Gunjan Desai completed his MBBS from BJ Medical College and Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad. He pursued his Master of Surgery (MS) from Delhi University and then underwent super-specialty training in Gastrointestinal, Hepatobiliary, and Pancreatic Surgery at Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai, earning the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) from NBE, New Delhi.

He is a passionate, enthusiastic, and compassionate doctor, having performed over 4000 surgeries in both cancer and non-cancerous conditions, using both open and minimally invasive (keyhole) techniques. Dr. Desai is a life member of the National Minimal Access Surgeons Society and a skilled laparoscopic surgeon. He is also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, England.

Dr. Desai has numerous international indexed publications and has mentored several students in research. He has presented at international conferences and is the lead author of the world’s largest series on mixed neuroendocrine neoplasms (MiNENs) in the gastrointestinal tract. Additionally, he co-authored the multicenter data on neuroendocrine neoplasms and colonic diverticulitis.

He is the chief editor and author of the "Exam Preparatory Manual of Surgery for Undergraduates" (second edition, Jaypee Publications) and has contributed a chapter to the prestigious American HPB textbook on hilar cholangiocarcinoma and portal vein resection. Dr. Desai is also the founder and director of 'Edusurg Clinics,' a government-approved healthcare educational startup recognized internationally for its cancer awareness initiatives. His book, Taming the Tumor, which aims at patient cancer awareness, is freely available on Amazon Kindle Unlimited.
