Deserving patients are referred to us and a number have received free medical and surgical services including expensive procedures like CABG, Valve replacement, Cancer and Orthopaedic surgery. SEWA Mobile Clinic
Having successfully started and run the "Free Clinic" daily on the premises of the Lilavati Hospital, it was felt necessary for SEWA to embark on an ambitious "Community Outreach" programme. SEWA Mobile Clinic is the first step towards this goal of reaching out into the community and providing "Primary Medical Care" since 26th June 2000 to the underprivileged and the poor.
The Mobile Clinic visits slums at Dharavi, Goregaon, Kala Chowki, Khar, Santacruz, etc. These centres were selected after surveying a number of areas in and around the city of Mumbai. The Mobile Clinic team consists of a Doctor, Nurse and other team members. The patients, on paying a nominal fee of a Rs.10/- are entitled to free Consultations and basic medication, free of cost for a period of six months.
Educational group sessions with slide shows, street plays and video clippings on various infectious diseases like "Malaria Prevention and Treatment", "Healthy Habits", "Cancer Awareness", "Child Health Care" and "Eye Donation Awareness" are carried out.

SEWA ROSHNI Eye Bank
The prevalent rate of 20-25 thousand per year, the estimated figure of corneally blind in the year 2001 will be 3 million. Every year 8-9 million people die in India but however only 4,000 - 5,000 persons donate eyes. Every year the number of corneally blind persons increases by 20-25 thousand. Most of them are young children between the ages of 10 to 12 years. This evoked the thought of promotion of ROSHNI Eye Bank and Cornea transplants. SEWA's latest project ROSHNI Eye Bank is a well - equipped, efficient, equitable and comprehensive centre for corneal removal, processing, storing, supplying and transplant. It is a non - profit organisation and can only be sustained through contributions from concerned citizens and organisations. Your donation - of time, money or effort to spread the good word - will help us to ensure that the Eye Bank's essential services and research will benefit the maximum number of those in need.
We had organised Corneal Grafting Diagnostic Camp followed by Free Corneal Transplants. We have gone one step ahead to spread awareness for eye donation in our SEWA Mobile communities, Senior Citizen Clubs, Corporate Sectors, Rotary Clubs, etc.
